In many scenarios, we need to recreate tables containing large volumes of data, multiple indexes, foreign keys, and other constraints. This process requires carefully crafted scripts to meet all requirements while preserving high availability in the environment. This session proposes to showcase a set of SQL mechanisms I’ve developed over more than 10 years working with Db2. These scripts automate and dramatically accelerate the generation of all required statements—turning tasks that once took days into activities completed in just a few hours or even minutes, with full traceability and control over every action executed.

Amazon RDS for Db2 provides a powerful, fully managed way to run Db2 workloads on AWS integrated directly into the Amazon RDS ecosystem. If you build applications on IBM Db2, you likely live in VS Code. Your code, source control, and AI assistants are already there. Your database work, however, often happens in a separate tool, which means switching back and forth to inspect tables, write queries, and check results. Each switch breaks your focus, and the cost adds up.

The IBM Db2 Developer Extension for VS Code brings your Db2 work into the same editor. From one window, you can create a free Db2 Community Edition instance with a sample database, save connection profiles for different databases, browse tables and other objects, write SQL with auto-complete and error checking, and run queries to view or export the results.

In this talk, you will see a tour of the extension and learn the thinking behind each feature. By the end, you will know how to use Db2 in your own projects without leaving VS Code.

This session will do a deep dive on how Warehouses are still a play in the era of Lakehouses. Warehouse environments are required to meet the Gold Medallion SLAs and at the same time, provide TCO as close to Lakehouses as possible without compromising performance. Learn how Db2 Warehouse has bucked the trend and how this is offered in several different deployment patterns. Learn how can one deploy this as an BYOC SaaS with all Day2 operations, in addition to its existing form factors like fully managed SaaS and Self Managed.

This presentation will look at what is required to run Db2 pureScale on a z/Linux (LinuxONE) platform. We will review the H/W and S/W requirements and describe a real deployment. Running Db2 pureScale on the most reliable hardware on the planet provides you with the highest level of availability possible for an open systems deployment.
