A08 | Db2 for z/OS – Know your Limits!
Tuesday August 18, 2026 10:50am - 11:50am ADT
This session will show and explain how to reliably monitor and manage critical limits within Db2 on z/OS along with real world examples from Banco Itaú. Starting with relatively basic simple things like DSSIZE or PIECESIZE. Moving on to Linear Dataset limits (32 for segmented spaces, 254 for LOB). We then will have a quick look at how the COPYPOOL is looking before diving off to the world of PBGs, where you must be aware of MAXPARTITONS among other things. Then we will review SEQUENCES and Numeric Primary Key usage before finally delving into the abstract limit of Db2 within the Db2 engine including DBATs etc.
Objectives:
1. DSSIZE or PIECESIZE among other basic simple things
2. Linear Dataset limits (32 for segmented spaces, 254 for LOB)
3. COPYPOOL
4. PBGs & MAXPARTITIONS
5. SEQUENCES and Numeric Primary Key usage
6. Abstract limit of Db2 (DBATs etc.)

C09 | Improve Db2 for z/OS Observability and Operations with Modern Dashboards
Tuesday August 18, 2026 12:00pm - 1:00pm ADT
The mainframe, it’s just different…scalable, reliable, securable. But many in IT leadership roles think that “difference” is a barrier to success. It doesn’t have to be. The mainframe software has been evolving for years to be more and more manageable via user interfaces and commands that are similar or familiar to people using non-mainframe systems. The barrier to entry has been greatly reduced to enable simplified mainframe operation, monitoring, and performance management.  In this session, we show how IBM Db2 Tools can help to visualize Db2 for z/OS metrics, log information, real time statistics, and more in modern dashboards such as Grafana, IBM Instana or Elastic. This enables Db2 administrators and SMEs to detect anomalies, performance trends, and dependencies without need to navigate between multiple traditional user interfaces. Get to know new insights into your Db2 for z/OS systems with modern, state-of-the-art, and customizable user interfaces.

A10 | Challenges for the Successful Db2 13 Lock Structure Async Duplex Implementation at Itaú Unibanco
Tuesday August 18, 2026 2:00pm - 3:00pm ADT
Ensuring high availability and resilience is a core requirement for modern enterprise data platforms. In Db2 Data Sharing environments, lock structures are a fundamental component for maintaining system stability and consistent performance under continuous, mission-critical workloads.

At Itaú Unibanco S.A., Db2 for z/OS supports essential banking applications operating 24x7, across transactional and batch workloads in a large-scale production environment. As part of its ongoing resilience and architecture evolution strategy, Itaú adopted the Db2 Lock Structure Asynchronous Duplex capability. This implementation strengthened the platform’s resilience posture by increasing fault tolerance, enhancing operational continuity during infrastructure maintenance, and reinforcing overall system stability.

In this presentation, specialists from Itaú and IBM share practical insights from the initiative, including architectural motivations, implementation considerations, testing approaches, and results achieved. The discussion highlights how close collaboration between client and vendor supported the successful adoption of advanced Db2 z/OS capabilities in a complex enterprise environment.

B11 | Db2 is Your AI Platform: Proven AI Use Cases to Build Right Now
Tuesday August 18, 2026 3:10pm - 4:10pm ADT
Db2 now has a complete AI application stack: Vector Storage, Vector Similarity Search, Vector Index, and LLM Integration. Once you know what this stack can do, the natural next question is: what can you build with it? That is exactly what this session addresses. Drawing on industry research and global enterprise adoption data, we examine AI use cases that organizations have already deployed at scale and validated in production. For each, we explain the business problem it solves, how Db2's AI stack maps to the solution, and what implementation looks like, using data most Db2 customers already have. Business leaders will leave with a clear, evidence-backed starting point for AI investment. Developers and architects will leave with a concrete path from proven use case to working implementation. The stack is ready. The use cases are proven. Come find out which ones to build next.
